The demand for animal food products has placed the agricultural industry under pressure to increase production and maximise yields in order to meet the needs of national and international markets. In tandem with this is the growing consumer awareness of animal welfare and the importance of sustainable farming practices.

My international experience of the auditing of practical welfare and quality standards abroad affords me an overview of the international supply chain that has proved invaluable whenever I work with British firms and their own supply chains.

 As a trained auditor for animal welfare and traceability, I have engaged with major UK retailers and their suppliers, providing inspection services advice and guidance. I have worked with them to drive up standards in many sectors of the meat industry, UK-wide and across the European Union.

I have a BSc in Agriculture with Honours in Animal Production Science from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and a Masters degree in Meat Science from the University of Bristol. I have trained as an Animal Welfare and Poultry Welfare Processing Officer and Poultry Welfare Farm Officer. Establishing my own consultancy business after working with companies such as Tesco as their Agricultural Manager has afforded me more flexibility in my own working practices, allowing me to take on a wide variety of projects. I have worked across all sectors of the food chain and I am at home consulting with farmers as I am with the senior management of global food-related businesses.
